Squirrels can wreck bird feeders, with their sharp teeth and strong jaws they will happily destroy a bird feeder to get at the food inside. So if you want to feed birds where squirrels are present in your garden then it makes sense to use a feeder that keeps the squirrels out and allowing the birds in.
